Chi For yourself begins a new year with a new look at relationships. Our
guest is psychologist, counselor, and author Dr. Debra Reble. She'll talk about
making relationship dreams come true by first cultivating a soul partnership
with yourself and then a soul-hearted partnership with a loved one. She'll also
take a good look at those bad relationship "actors"- fear, jealously, and
resentment and talk about her approaches to each. Dr. Debra Reble is the author
of Soul-Hearted Partnership.

Meet Patricia Monaghan:

One of the leaders of the contemporary earth spirituality movement, Patricia Monaghan has spent more than 20 years researching and writing about alternative spiritual visions of the earth. Raised in Alaska, where much of her family still lives, she considers herself blessed to have learned the ecology of the taiga, the sub-arctic forest, in her youth. She was a writer and reporter on science and energy-related issues before turning her attention to the impact of myth on our daily lives.

The worldwide vision of the earth as feminine — as a goddess, called Gaia by the Greeks — led her to recognize the connection between ecological damage and the oppression of the feminine. Much of her work since that time has explored the role of feminine power in our world, in an inclusive and multicultural way. Her book,
Wild Girls
, focuses on the revival of girl power.

In addition to her exacting research, Patricia is an award-winning poet whose work has been set to music and is performed around the world. She is also an acclaimed lecturer who has appeared at hundreds of universities, festivals, bookstores, and community centers around the United States and Europe. Patricia practices several forms of meditation daily and has co-written a book on the subject,
Meditation: The Complete Guide
.

An avid traveler, Patricia has researched earth spirituality and goddess worship on three continents. She has traveled widely in Europe, especially in Ireland; she holds dual US/Irish citizenship and has edited two anthologies of contemporary Irish-American writing. She is at work on a book on Irish spiritual geography and has recently completed editing a book of essays on Irish spirituality.

The widow of acclaimed novelist Robert Shea (
Illuminatus!; Shike; Shaman), Patricia lives in Chicago. She is a member of the Resident Faculty at DePaul University's School for New Learning, where she teaches science and literature. Patricia is a reviewer for Booklist, the Journal of the American Library Association, and also the author ofIrish Spirit and has a new book of poetry out in Ireland titled Dancing with Chaos
with recorded excerpts. She is the winner of the 1992 Friends of Literature Award.

A former resident of County Galway, Monaghan is active in Irish organizations in both countries, serving as advisor to the Center for Celtic Spirituality at Old St. Pat's Church in Chicago, supporter and fund-raiser for Salmon Poetry in County Clare; she is a frequent guest at Clifden Arts Week in Connemara and leads student tours to Northern Ireland. She is a member of the interdisciplinary faculty at DePaul University in Chicago, where she lives.

Patricia's hobbies include gardening, camping, too many crafts to fit in one closet, apparently endless interior decorating and rehab, and talking with her friends. Her theme parties are locally famous.

This February 2010 episode featured Dena Saxer, who told us that so-called negative emotions are valuable messages that let us know we are out of balance. She cited the essence of ageless wisdom teachings for use in the twenty-first century. Dena Saxer and Mantak Chia are co-authors of Emotional Wisdom: Daily Tools for Transforming Anger, Depression, and Fear.
